What should you buy for your parents

What should I buy for my mum is sometimes the hardest decision for me to make. If I buy her some dress, she may not like the colors. If I feel like I want to surprise her with something new, I’m always found at mistake as its not necessary that what I like, is on her wish list too. And what’s on her wish list, is NEVER on mine. Like this Samsung Tablet that my cousin keeps reminding me of. The new tablet’s price is bit higher than the 2013 model but he says its worth it. check it out at amazon.

It’s the hottest gadget according to him and I get to hear about it almost everyday but I’m not intoย tablets or big expensive phones much. I’m happy with my Galaxy young for now. What I would really want is a telescope. That too a Dobsonian.ย

Yet again! thats not something my mum likes so to kill my confusion, I directly took voting at home and found out that she would really appreciate if I buy her this.

Was I shocked or what!

No, not at the price. But at the innocent request of my mother.

She wanted a tablet. I was amazed because frankly speaking, our generation and our parents are like north pole and south pole. Two galaxies apart! Besides, it’s so not like mom to have a gadget in her hand like that when she barely can tolerate a ย cell fone. So to be sure,I asked her again.

“Ami, are u sure, you’re pulling my leg hai na?”

“Nai nai, mazakh nahi hai. Mei dramay dekhungi us pe. Wo falan falan bhi dekhti hai apni beti k tablet pe Mera Sultan ki episodes aur wo Wadi-e-Ishq bhi acha drama hai. Internet pe bhi ata hai na??”

Now that I think about it, now days, its the best thing to gift to your parents. It’s light as compared to a laptop, old people can easily carry it.

The use is smartย and with doodling features like the one I saw in Apple Ipad, is just too awesome. My uncle creates superb sketches using it. And I think if I manage to get one for my mum as well, she would start painting again.

Ah!ย Now, its on my list, too ๐Ÿ™‚

For mum.

Note: I do not own the pictures presented in this post.

WONDERFUL! ๐Ÿ™‚ and i loved the MERA SULTAN part! lol! kahani ghar ghar ki , literally ๐Ÿ˜€

This is actually a really good idea ! and I have always wondered WHY OH WHY would ANYYOONNEEE not want a tablet ๐Ÿ™ elders in my family are a BIG NO NO to technology lol!

    • I used to say that Kahani ghar ghar ki is beemari ghar ghar ki but if that keeps our mothers entertained, we can’t really deny them this happiness. The only good thing about it is that our elders are becoming technology friendly people because of the need to watch the missed episodes on internet. lol
      Thanks for ur visit.

  • My Ammi uses tablet for the same purpose and to use skype. Bus.
Hers is a Fonepad (phone+pad), and I said her “Ammi lets get u mini sim, phir u can use this as a phone as well, your phone’s become too old ab” and she replies “Ab mein utna bada kaan ko lagake baat karoun?!” ๐Ÿ˜›

    • Ahhh! Our dear mothers ๐Ÿ˜›

  • I can totally relate to this. Both my mother and my MIL use the internet to watch shows (they say time isn’t wasted on the countless advertisement that is shown on TV) at any time convenient for them, they use Skype, Facetime, etc. My mom loves reading Earth Clinic website and also gets crochet patterns for herself.

So yeah, get that tablet for you ammi ๐Ÿ˜€

    • I’m glad you understand our mothers better than me, haha. I m seriously still shocked ke mom would want it. I mean, elders literally hate technology sometimes. But I guess, the need for entertainment is what makes them consider technology a friend now.

  • Lol I love your article. The distance between my mom and technology is vast actually lol she only can use phones to listen to the call and to call someone. She don’t know even how to click on a pc and she can be listened saying what is this ‘tuk-tuk-tuk’ you are always doing on your laptop lol stop it !! I love the idea of gifting a tablet to her. Though I would be the one to teach her how to use it ๐Ÿ˜› Love your blog it is awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

    • lol ๐Ÿ™‚ I can understand that. My mum is almost like that but now as I’m spreading my wings in this world, she’s also learning to love technology along with me
Thank you for your lovely visit. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • We bought my parents tablets for their 20th anniversary last year and my mum loves hers! It really is a worthwhile gift.
